Lens-Artists Challenge #337 – Bold

The Mid-Life Crisis

This week for the Lens Artist Challenge Sofia is asking us to be BOLD. Please and take a look at her post to see what she has posted and her explanation.

I took a quick look and then did a google search for a definition of bold. I decided that I would to the colour, design or shape. I know you can show bold in other ways, but I have no idea if I have any photos like that, especially not with people.

I have to admit colour was the first thing I thought of and then I thought about those beachside cottages in Capitola in California. The different colours. My photo of them isn’t great. It was late in the afternoon, so the were in the shade sadly.

I hate what keeps happening to the area with the massive storms and high tides that have been bringing destruction on the West Coast.

I loved this one from there too.

These always have amazingly bold colours.

The next thing I thought of was flowers. I love making the bold colours of flowers pop out from the background and stand out. I think this is bold, I could be wrong, but I hope you think my colours are bold.

I could have put hundreds of flowers up, but I made myself stick to 5.

Then when it said design or shape I thought about some of the architecture here. What buildings are bold?

I have picked out some of my favourite buildings that have bold shapes and/or colour.

I picked the black and white one because I think even with the building reflected into a window and looking abstract we know what it is. Those of us who live here know which building it is.

I was finished this post and then I thought about food. So here are some baked goods with bold colours.

I could do some many things, I have to stop myself now.

So Sofia, great challenge and thank you for being out host this week. Click on the link at the start of this post to take a look at her BOLD images.

  1. Impossible to pick one, er even some, Leanne – super bold choices! I love the architecture you have down there, Melbourne would be wonderful to visit. The flowers are all awesome in shapes and colours and the food/cookies look sooo tasty (happy they are only in pictures now…)

    1. Thank you Ann-Christine, I think the whole week has been lit up with bold colours. I do love Melbourne, so I would always encourage that. Hahah, yeah, the food pictures, no calories looking at them.

  2. That last architectural image before the food series (white lattice tunnels over red curve, glinting railings) has me awe-struck It’s more than bold, it’s a whole dance of form and space!

  3. Spot on, Leanne. I think your flowers are also bold on their design, your architecture examples are wow, especially the last one. And your cakes… yum!

  4. Leanne, I haven’t had breakfast yet and you ended with those delicious desserts! Now my egg seems so simple and not sweet enough! I did love the rest of your bold images, especially the buildings.

  5. LOL I loved your comment about having to stop after a while!! I loved all of your choices Leanne but the food (not surprisingly!) set is my favorite. Well done!!

    1. Hahaha, well it turns out I couldn’t stop, you will see tomorrow. Thank you Tina, the food was a last minute idea, but I had to include it. Glad you liked it.

  6. these are wonderful bold colors and sad about the storms. my daughter’s in-laws live south of Perth on the west coast in Bunbury.

    1. Thank you Beth, storms are always bad news, they just seem to keep happening these days. I didn’t know that you had family here. Where in the world are you Beth, I have always assumed the US.

    2. I am, indeed. I live in michigan, in the north. my eldest daughter married an Aussie and lived there for years, now they live here, but her in-laws all still live there.

    3. Oh okay, I feel like maybe we have had this discussion before, it sounds familiar. WA is meant to be gorgeous, I have got over there yet.
