Monochrome Madness #39 – Monochrome in Colour

This is different one, a few weeks ago we had naturally monochrome and this week we have Monochrome in Colour from our host Margaret who has the blog Pyrenees to Pennines. This is her pick for our theme.

I was a bit confused so I asked Margaret and she said monochrome images that have a colour or tone to them. I hope I got that right. Initially, I thought she meant naturally monochrome with a colour, but I got that wrong. Though I had a couple of those and have included them here as well.

Most of these were converted to black and white and then a tone was layered and blended into them. However, there are about 3 that were naturally photographed like this. I am sure you can work out which ones I am talking about.

I have a gallery of images for you. Many of these are older images and were previous entries for Monochrome Madness, while a few are new to it. I hope you enjoy the gallery.

What an interesting theme, and I would like to thank Margaret for being our host. Please go and take a look at her post and see what she has posted.

Our next host is Brian in two weeks and I look forward to seeing what theme he sets for us.

Participating in Monochrome Madness

If you would like to participate in this challenge, please post photos on your blog and use the tag Monochrome-Madness, then we can all use the reader to see what you post.

You can also leave a pingback, do they still call them that? Basically, you put a link to the host’s monochrome madness post in your post, and it leaves a link in the comment section.

Don’t forget to check out the Monochrome Madness page. On this page, the next theme is announced, and there is also all the information for participating. Please go and check it out. Click on the Monochrome Madness heading in the menu.

  1. I like what you’ve done with these shots and you’ve inspired me to try something similar in the future 🙂 But I did take Margaret’s theme to be ‘naturally monochrome with a colour’ as you put it, and that’s what I’m working on for posting (probably tomorrow) – I hope this doesn’t mean I’ve got it wrong!!

    1. I did ask Margaret about it as I didn’t really have anything that was natural. I do have some that are, but she said adding a tone was okay. No I don’t think it means you got it wrong, I guess it is always about our own interpretation. Thanks Sarah.

  2. Great photos, but it would be such a help if you would put a link to the prompt in your blog..I’ve been looking all over to try to join the prompt myself…Thanks..

    1. There is a page on my blog called Monochrome Madness and you can find the themes there, usually the week before, or my monochrome madness the week before.

  3. You approached this theme differently to me. Your results are very good. I like the car silhouette in the sunset most.

  4. Fascinating theme! I don’t know if I have a favorite in your gallery, but the Manhattan Bridge is definitely magnificent.

  5. I like the header photo! It has an eerie, end-of-the-world look to it, which I think is great!

  6. You nailed it Leanne! And you didn’t get it wrong at all. Clearly I don’t explain very well. I’m very taken by your machinery and vehicle shots. Very dramatic!
