Our host for Monochrome Madness #45 is Brian from Bushboy’s World, and he has chosen CERAMICS for his theme.
I wasn’t sure about this one, actually, that’s not true, I knew I would have lots of images with ceramics, and I managed to find some. Over the years, I’ve used ceramics in lots of my photos, and I didn’t have to look too far to find any.
I like still life photography, and over the years I’ve tried to do lots of it, though I don’t think I’m always successful, but I like to try. Quite a few of these are experiments I did way back when, well over 10 years ago. Though the first 4 were done in the last few years.
I’ve tried a few things, like photographing white ceramic things and then putting patterns on them. I’ve even tried copying some things that other photographers have done and played around with my own compositions. I even threw in one food photography image.

When I left school and started work as a commercial artist, years before ever picking-up a camera, a photographic studio operated in the same building who specialised in product shots for a well known home shopping catalogue. What I learned from them was ‘lighting’ absolutely crucial when undertaking this form of photography, a lesson learned, thanks for the memory, Leanne.
Yeah, lighting is so important in still life photography, some of these are great for that, but I like to think that as the years have progressed, I’ve got better with it. You’re welcome and thank you Geoff.

Made a mold 😵💫, wow. I guessed spray paint. Very impressive.
You know the books are made from ceramics, they are clay. So I made a mold of a book, then I used clay slip to make them.
One of the reasons I don’t do any work like this is…the work 😳. Great photography 😃😃😃
I did these a long time ago, they were part of my final year project in art school.
The teapot and sugar bowl are so beautiful–and very unique!
