This is a non theme week, but make sure you take a look after the photo gallery to find out about the theme next week. Also if you are interested in hosting a theme week we are starting to fill in places for 2025.
When I was up at my mum’s I went out with my infrared camera early one morning to see what I could get. I don’t think we tend to think that buildings will work in infrared, but in many ways it is like taking black and white photos, well except for trees, or any vegetation.
I added a tone to most of these to see what I thought. I think the sepia tone adds to them and makes them look more antique. What do you think?
I have a gallery for you now of some of the photos I took.
Our theme is going to be hosted by Sarah from the blog Travel with Me and has chosen LEADING LINES. It is a great idea for us and I look forward to seeing what you all do.
Participating in Monochrome Madness
If you would like to participate in this challenge please post photos on your blog and use the tag Monochrome-Madness, then I can use the reader to see what you post.
You can also leave a pingback, do they still call them that? Basically, you put a link to my monochrome madness post in your post and it leaves a link in the comment section.
Don’t forget to check out the Monochrome Madness page. On this page, the next theme is announced and there is also all the information for participating. We have also included a list of themes that will be coming in the future so if you want to be able to plan ahead you can. They aren’t in order, but will happen. Please go and check it out. Click on the Monochrome Madness heading in the menu.
Also if you would like to host one week or more, let me know.
I like the richness of your sepia tones as well as the images themselves. With a free rein this week I had to share some from California! https://www.toonsarah-travels.blog/gallery-seeing-the-landscapes-of-california-in-black-and-white/
Thank you Sarah, I saw yours they were great.
You work those sepia tones so well, Leanne. I never like mine when I do it 🙂
Thank you Sofia. I am going to tell you how I do mine, I use Photoshop, and I do a layer, add the colour to it, then I blend it with soft light, I think it is, and then I get the opacity and I turn it down, sometimes even going to 0% and slowly add the tone to where I think it is subtle, but doesn’t go overboard. I hope that helps.
Lovely capture of light in these photos. Here’s mine:

Thank you, you have to love morning glow at times.
Very interesting. The buildings look as if caught by light. Difficult to describe but I like it.
Here is my madness of the day (although decidedly boring in comparison): https://picturesimperfectblog.com/2024/11/06/architectural-details-2/ (PS: I’m NOT fishing for compliments, I feel very inadequate most times when I do monochrome).
I know waht you mean Elke, they were caught by light, the morning sun as it was coming up. I took advantage of it. Thank you.
All very nice images, Leanne. The sepia tone adds a really nice touch!
Thank you Donna, glad you like the sepia tone.
I do like how you use light in your photography Leanne, lovely shots
Thank you Ritva, it is what I like to play with the most.
Wonderful images Leanne, I like the infrared in sepia tone. It softens it a bit and does make it look older.
Thank you Anne, I think the sepia makes a world of difference to. I might have to try some other tones too.
The photos are beautiful, Leanne! The sepia tone works great too, well done! 😊❤️
Thank you John, I liked the sepia tone too. 😀
