I’m not gonna lie, I’m so tired. My trip away for the day was exhausting. I went to some places around Lorne and over the day walked around 10kms, did over 15000 steps. We walked up hills, down hills and up steps then down the steps. It was hard work. I’m so glad I have done so much to get fitter as I would never have been able to do half of it otherwise.
I still have more work with my fitness to do, but I am liking that I could do all that. My legs will get over it, but hopefully all that will just make them stronger.
I’ve been sitting around trying to work out what to do for Monochrome Madness while trying not to fall asleep.
In the end I just thought I would go through my monochrome images and put together a selection of some of my favourites. Ones I am so glad I was able to take and then process either in black and white or monochrome.
Do you have favourites?
Next week we have another theme and another new host. Elke from elastic will be our host and she has decided on the theme of BIRDS.
It should be a fun one to do I think, but also challenging.
Participating in Monochrome Madness
If you would like to participate in this challenge please post photos on your blog and use the tag Monochrome-Madness, then I can use the reader to see what you post.
You can also leave a pingback, do they still call them that? Basically, you put a link to my monochrome madness post in your post and it leaves a link in the comment section.
Don’t forget to check out the Monochrome Madness page. On this page, the next theme is announced and there is also all the information for participating. We have also included a list of themes that will be coming in the future so if you want to be able to plan ahead you can. They aren’t in order, but will happen. Please go and check it out. Click on the Monochrome Madness heading in the menu.
Also if you would like to host one week or more, let me know.
So many beauties … too many for one favourite! Clever girl
Thank you so much Julie.

That is great to hear, I look forward to seeing your post.
Sometimes it’s fun just to pull together a set of images that have nothing in common apart from the fact that you like them 😀 You asked about our favourites – mine are numbers 4, 6, 10 and 12. I especially like number 6, of the Flatiron Building. You’ve somehow made it look as it were the only building around, emphasising its shape even more!
I liked the favourites idea so I hunted out a few of my own: https://www.toonsarah-travels.blog/gallery-some-favourites-in-black-and-white/
I agree Sarah, it is fun. Thank you for sharing your favourites, mine and yours really. The Flatiron building has always been a popular shot. I tried hard to isolate it. Thank you Sarah.
I like the trees best of all. Always love pictures with reflections in them and the trees are like a line of airy dancers.
I love your description RJ, thank you.
helllo leanne,
a wonderful selection of pictures from your many favorites, i like them very much especially the 3rd, 5th, 12th and the last one.
here is my contribution to the challenge theme, https://wp.me/pfnz9O-rX.
many greetings robert
Thank you so much Robert. That is great to here. I will go and take a look at yours.
Love your photo selection.
sometimes the most fun we get will tire us the most. Been there done that, learned absolutely nothing from it LOL.
Thank you, that is great.
lol, that is so true and yeah, I did get a lot of out it, can’t wait to do it again.
Number 4 is my favourite. Great work.
That is close to me, that place, so glad you liked the photo. Thank you Sally.
Welcome home from traveling and hope you regain your energy, soon!

Thank you, I have definitely got my energy back.
These are all fantastic. The Flat Iron Building and cruise ship are my faves. I like the sepia tones you’ve used.
Thank you Alison, I think the Flatiron is very popular, I loved taking that one. The cruise ship was a good find too. That’s good to hear.
Stunning favourites. If I have to pick a favourite it’s the breaking waves.
Thank you Elke, that is nice one.
Sorry you’re so tired Leanne. But you’ve dug out some great images anyway. My hasty entry is here: https://margaret21.com/2024/08/28/black-white-postcards-of-black-white-buildings/. I’d be happy by the way to host for a week in the near future, even though I’m a bit of a newbie at monochrome.
I’m feeling better now, thank goodness. Thank you so Margaret, I will have to check out what you have done.
My favourite = the shearing shed (top right in the block) — runner-up was the high-contrast Sullivan Bay shot, but the subtlety, the dark play of shades, in the shearing shed is the stand-out for me — and congrats on your fitness!
Great choices Penny. That shearing shed was a great find and I was really lucky to be able to photograph it. Thank you Penny, I’m feeling so much fitter, it is so good.
Glad to know you’re feeling fitter — it changes the whole context of our fay, doesn’t it?
Oh yes, I feel so much better and feel like I can do what I want, well almost, but getting closer. Thanks Penny.

They’re all great, but #6 is my favorite. That style of architecture is always striking, and the monochrome image is even more so.
I think number 6 seems to be the popular choice here. I agree, I love how it came out in monochrome. Thank you.
I know that situation of being exhausted after a long day of walking and exploring, but feeling good about it at the end of the day 😀. Lovely selection of pictures. My favorite in your set is the Flat Iron building.
That is it exactly, I am starting to feel better now, thank goodness. Thank you PR, that was a great morning.
You ask for the impossible, I can’t pick!!
Thank you Sofia, though I also meant what is your favourite of your images.
Wonderful collection.
Thank you Egidio.
I love them all, especially the Flatiron Building.
Thank you Anne, I loved the morning I got that shot.
The trees and their reflections and the hot air balloons particularly caught my eye.
Thank you Margaret, all great choices.
Thank you!
😀
I’m always a fan of nature – waterfalls, etc. and tumbled down old structures
Me too, it can be amazing. Thank you Beth.
I really like the shearing shed. I could not picture that one in color. In B&W, it is everything!
I love that one too, it was such an old shearing shed. Thank you Lois.
I don’t think I have ever done it colour.
Number 6 is my favorite. I love the use of negative space, and the details of the building. Great shot!
Thank you Rick, I wish we had more buildings in Melbourne so I could do similar.
