So, I’ve been thinking about this Monochrome Madness and it seems lots of you like themes. That got me thinking and how the Lens Artists Challenge works. I wondered if maybe we could do something similar with Monochrome Madness.
We could have a different person each week that could be the host and we post what they want us to post. My blog will always be the main host, so to speak, so you can come here to find out what the theme will be for the week. I could start a page where it will be added and a link to the person who is hosting it where there will be more information.
What do you think? Is it worth giving it a try and who would be interested?
I have some photos taken in the city about 2 to 3 years ago. You have seen them all before, though they were shown in colour last time. I have tried making them black and white to see how they would turn out. I hope you like them.
Participating in Monochrome Madness
If you would like to participate in this challenge please post photos on your blog and use the tag Monochrome-Madness, as then I can use the reader to see what you post.

I love editing photos to B&W it brings always something different to the table. You are very good at this and I like how you use contrast and light in your images. I’m game.
It is an interesting process, you never really know what will work until you try it. Thank you Ritva, I think after all these years I’m getting better at working out what will work as well. I look forward to it Ritva.
Yes, practice certainly makes me better 🙂 and obviously you too have benefited from it – it is obvious in your beautiful images
Practice is good. Thank you so much Ritva.
hello leanne,
I really like what you have shown us on monochrome madness.
many greetings robert
That’s great Robert, thank you.
I rarely participate in challenges because they don’t fit what I photograph or how I feel like processing at that moment. For example, I process one in a thousand of my photos to black and white. The image tells me what it wants to be.
Fair enough Sherry. I’m not usually a fan of themes either, but with a massive number of photos I can usually find something and it is a great way to go back and look at older photos. I get that not everyone wants to do it, so no problem at all. Thanks
I think it’s an excellent idea to have a theme each week, BUT I’d already drafted mine for this week when I saw this post: https://www.toonsarah-travels.blog/gallery-seeing-flowers-in-black-and-white/ I’d be happy to volunteer to host a theme from time to time but not on too regular a basis because of my travels (for instance, I’m away for much of February!) Let me know if I can help 🙂
Thank you Sarah, that’s fine it hasn’t started yet.
That would be great if you could help out. We can talk.
I think it would be worth a try. I’m just not sure monochrome would lend itself to easy challenges since not everything transforms from color to black and white easily. You have an amazing editing talent, but not everyone, like me, does. But I do think it’s worth a try. It would be interesting!
I think that is the challenge Anne, finding those images that will work. I think it could be fun. See what happens. Thank you.
That is a wow Leanne 🙂
Thank you so much Brian.
I could help host if it were only once every 6-8 weeks.
Just message me if you decide you want to go that route.
We can talk Dawn, it would be nice to have some others take over, maybe not all the time, but from time to time.
it would almost be worth a visit to a city if I could create images like these. Powerful!
I love architecture so I am always looking for it to photograph. Thank you Brian.
