It is Wednesday again and I have another monochrome image for you. It is a Lighthouse. I love lighthouses and I know I’m not alone in that.
Monochrome Wednesday – A Lighthouse
Along the coast of Victoria, there are a number of lighthouses. They are all sort of different, which makes it interesting to photograph them.
I have captured all of them along the Great Ocean Road, and all the way to the South Australian border. Some of them I visit often because they aren’t that far away, while others I’ve only seen once because of the distance.
Cape Otway Lighthouse
One of the nicest lighthouses is at Cape Otway. It is one of the very few that you do have to pay to enter and see. It isn’t just the lighthouse, you have to pay to get inside the whole area.
I have been there a few times, but really only if I’m staying around Apollo Bay. It is a bit far for a day trip, but then again, I have done it in a day as well. A long day.
You really never know what you will get down there. I have to admit I seem to have been there in bad weather more than good. Which is fine, I love it when the weather is crap. Not great if it is raining, but in between showers is great. The clouds help to show how the lighthouses work to save people and in the conditions.
It would be nice to see it with fog one day. I know they get fog down there. I’ve seen it.
My image
When I was l looking for something to convert I found this and thought it would be a great image for monochrome Wednesday. I still think it is.
Joining in
It has been great to see that people are enjoying the monochrome challenge again. If you want to contribute there is a Facebook group, TPM Photoswhich you can join and share your images. Of course, if you are blogging no reason why you can’t post your own. I like this challenge and it is nice to be thinking in monochrome again.
Great image, I love the light.
Thank you so much Nicci, that’s great.
This is beautiful! I love the toning of it.
Thank you Deborah, it is one of the those lighthouses that you always seem to get good images of.
Lighthouses always make amazing subjects. I must try and get some shots of the one within walking distance from our home — never occurred to me.
I have to agree, I love photographing them. If you have one that close, then it sounds like you should see what you can do. Thank you Colonialist.
Great image, Leanne. Very striking in monochrome.
Thank you Chris love how good lighthouses work in monochrome.
Each lighthouse, by design has a different day mark. (The paint scheme, etc). They are, after all, navigational aids. Beautiful image.
Well there you go, that never occurred to me, but it makes so much sense. Thanks for explaining that.
Beautiful
Thank you.
Love lighthouses
They are great.
