This is the last station I have photos of and was the last station that we photographed on the day. There are a lot more stations that have been built and rebuilt, and I hope to get to them soon. They are spread out all over Melbourne, so it will take time.
I was wrong about the only station on my line being Rosanna that was rebuilt, apparently there are more and I will have to investigate them as well.
Today I have the station from Moreland. It was very different to all the other ones I’ve photographed so far. It had massive steps or staircases on each side to go up to the platforms. You also didn’t have to touch on until you were up at the top. Actually, I’m not sure about that. I’ve been looking at my photos, but I can’t tell. The outside, I thought anyway, wasn’t as fascinating.
It is interesting how, with all these stations, that while they do have lifts, they put stairs everywhere and not escalators. That could have been because of price I suppose, I don’t really know.
When you go up onto the platforms with this station you can see the city in the distance. I love being able to see the city. I can see it from near me too, way off in the distance.
Here are a few of the photos I took from that station.
The last couple of photos show an old brick building and I’m sure some of you have guessed that it is the old station that was there originally. I imagine that they are now listed buildings so they couldn’t tear them down. I think the original is still at Coburg too. It is nice what they have done and perhaps in time I will show more of them.
As I said recently I will try and work out how to put a poll up next week so we can vote on which station we liked the best.
This is a beautiful train station! From the bottom, it looks like a library, but the stairs leading up to the station is a marvel.
Glad you like it Esther, and yes, you are right about the library reference. The stairs really make it for me. I like how they made them a highlight. Thank you Esther.
Nice photos of this train station!
Thank you Amy.
Another quite handsome station.
Thank you Margaret, it is.
Love the train stations. Have you ever had train stations as a “Monochrome Madness” theme?
Thank you Jeff, um, no I don’t believe we have, I should recommend it to the team.
Only you can make a simple train station a place of beauty. The second picture of the stairway is interesting because it looks like it is going off to nowhere the way it is set against the sky. Brilliant!
That’s nice of you to say Marsha, but I’m sure many others could do it as well. I hadn’t thought of that, it is like a stairway to the sky. Thank you Marsha.
Don’t discredit yourself, my friend. your work is unique.
Thank you Marsha. How did the move go?
So far we haven’t left. The road is closed due to snow.
Oh no, hopefully it clears soon. I guess it feels like you are living in limbo.
Yes, it does right now. The snow pretty much melted off today, but it was thick this morning.
Well hopefully moving day will be very soon.
Fantastic pictures Leanne, and a lot of stairs! I wouldn’t want to carry anything heavy up those stairs.
Thank you Anne, oh yes, a lot of stairs. Thankfully there are lifts too.
