Photography trips in between lockdowns

It has been a while and I thought I was getting back into everything again, but then we went into lockdown again. I don’t know what it was about this last one, but it really hit me harder than any of the others we have had.

Lockdown Woes

It really has been a bit like that. I’ve heard it so many times recently from others that for some reason this last one was harder. Perhaps the novelty of them is wearing off.

Now many other capital cities are going into lockdown again right now and we have to wonder how long it will be before it is us, yet again. It is getting a little boring, for want of a better word.

Vaccinations are around, but it seems our Federal Government just isn’t up the task to get us vaccinated. Here we are with only a small percentage of the population vaccinated. We have been trying to get it, but we can’t. It amazes me how other countries are managing, but not us.

They haven’t been up to it for anything in a couple of years. There has been one disaster after another and they have consistently let the people of this country down. Apparently, we aren’t bribing them enough. Maybe I shouldn’t say that, but history seems to indicate if you want them to do anything you need to make sure you have the money to make “donations”. It is a sad reflection of the world we are living in.

I really do think we are seeing the end of democracy as it is meant to be. We seem to be heading into a strange sort of democratic totalitarianism. We just have to decide which dictator we want.

Anyway, let’s talk about something nicer.

Photography Trips

While in lockdown I obviously couldn’t get out, but I did do some trips before and I’ve been putting up the videos of those trips on my YouTube Channel.

I spent a wonderful afternoon out with my friend Chris when we went to Lake Learmonth to check out the area.

We explored the dry lake, an old house before taking a look at the wind turbines around there. Then with some daylight hours left Christ thought we should explore Lake Burrumbeet, I think it was called.

Learmonth Videos

I am going to put a couple of links to the videos below and show you a few of the photos, though you can see a lot more on the videos.

I know not everyone likes to watch the videos, but I do love doing them and showing where I’ve been. They give me a whole new reason to get out really.

So don’t forget to subscribe to the channel.

We do live in a beautiful part of the world and I love sharing it with you all.

The links,

I hope you enjoy them.

So now some photos. Take care everyone.

  1. Love your photos.

Regarding COVID and the vaccine, this was my experience: https://wp.me/p2G8qh-45k . Those who have had very bad reactions varies. If it wasn’t COVID, the bad reactions that have occurred would have been enough to halt the vaccines. But, I suppose it’s the urgency that has changed the process.

    Stay well, stay safe.

    1. We are getting the pfizer vaccine and I know you can have a reaction, but so far the reactions to that one have been fairly mild, we hope. I am sorry to hear you had such a bad reaction. We don’t have Moderna here.

    1. Thank you Daniel, I would like to, but it doesn’t earn any money. Lockdowns are hard but I like the way we just have short ones.

  2. Where do you live? It’s ridiculous that they’re not trying to get more people vaccinated.

I love the photos. I’ve been craving adventure and road trips just so I can get some new photos.

    1. I’m in Melbourne Australia, our Federal gov is proving once again they aren’t up to the challenge that is facing us.

Yeah, road trips is nice, I’ve been trying to get out as much as possible, which isn’t always easy. Thank you.

  3. The pictures are so lovely! And what you said in the beginning is true though, just when things started becoming normal, everything went back to how it was. This is just turning into a repetitive process

    1. Haha yes. But this time I feel like things are kind of starting to go back to “normal”. Yet, that’s what we had been thinking the last time so I guess only time will tell.
      Have a nice week 🧡

  4. Love love taking pictures, traveling and being on the creative side of life is a big match and something I feel one would do with in these critical times, you would be surprised at the amount of beautiful content is being released be it music, fashion, fine art, photography etc , like put more heart and soul in it to touch lives

    1. That is great to hear, it is a great way to spend time. You are right, it has got a lot of people being very creative, I hope it continues after all this. Thank you.

  5. I feel the same way you do – over here the vacs are also going at a snail’s pace. And because the government didn’t make sure we had enough facilities for sick people, we are now subject to all kinds of ridiculous measures like curfew, and no alcohol may be bought, etc. Your photo’s are as ever, gorgeous!

    1. It is amazing how incompetent governments can be when faced with a disaster. One day I hope to be able to get it. Wow they are tough restrictions. Thank you so much Zelmare.

  6. Beautiful pictures. We haven’t had a lockdown in our rural part of France but I have found the thought that life won’t be the same and being unable to go back easily to UK to see friends, very claustrophobic and quite stressful. Its upset me in a way I didn’t think it would. I hope somehow in five years we have a resolution.

    1. That is a good description of it Judi, exactly. I hope that resolution comes sooner. Though I worry about people not wantign to get vaccinated, if there are enough of them then it may make the vaccine no good. I guess time will tell.
      Thanks Judi.

    2. French uptake is bad. I can’t have it just yet without having a medical check. I am a little worried about having it, but I see your point.

    3. That is good to hear Judi, we don’t have to get a medical check, but actually getting the vaccine is tough because there isn’t enough. Our politicians have really let us down.

  7. Lovely photos. I am sorry you are back in lockdown again and I hope your country’s leadership gets it together soon. Things were incredibly challenging here in the US for a long time and the initial vaccine rollout was abysmal but we are finally at the point where the problem is not vaccine access but willingness of some people to be vaccinated. I think it is really hard emotionally to keep being given signs of progress and hope just to have things regress again. My state just lifted its mask mandate a couple of days ago but now the recommendation is that even we 100% vaccinated folks should still be wearing masks. Even though I was actually still wearing a mask anyway, somehow the sign of progress immediately being followed up by the pivot back came as a blow.

    1. We are having some of those problems with people not wanting to get vaccinated and are now protesting and making it hard for those that do. The regression really sucks at times. I think there is so much misinformation out there and leaders who can’t do anything properly just make the whole thing so much worse. It will be so much better when we get through this. Though I know there are some things I will miss, like my husband working from home. I am surprised, but I have really enjoyed that.

    2. Me too. Back in March of 2020 I was very much not used to him being around. It felt like he was intruding on my space and disrupting my routines. At one point I tactfully told him “I miss missing you”. Now that he is set to be headed back to the office on a hybrid basis, I find myself thinking about how much I am going to miss having him around. I like that he has been home for dinner for 16 months, for example. We have also had an extremely challenging past six months and my schedule became nigh impossible as a result so having him working from home was an absolute godsend in terms of providing me with some flexibility and on-site supervision of our kids.

    3. It is funny how to can adjust to things. I think also for me, now that both our girls have moved out, spending all day every by myself isn’t appealing. It will be something else to get used to. I am sure he will have to start going back soon, but they have said that people won’t have to go back every day, maybe just 2 or 3 days a week, so that is something. There are so many positives, who knew?

  8. We are totally open in California with vaccinated people now having to wear masks. It’s nice to go into a store and walk around unmasked. I just wonder how long it will last.

    1. We were like that a few weeks ago, but then it came back, now we just have to wear masks indoors. Trying to get vaccinated is proving to be the real challenge right now. It is so hard to get. I know what you mean about it lasting. Thanks Anne.
