Using ON1 Photo Raw to fake a long exposure

Last week on Monday’s post I showed you how to make a dust storm using ON1 Photo Raw 2023 and this week I thought we could use some of the things from that to fake long exposures.

It is something that many of us do when we can’t do a long exposure and we want it to look like one. These days with post-processing it isn’t that hard to do. As I said, I thought it would be a good thing to do a video on because it is related to what we did last week.

I can’t say I found it easy to do. I don’t mean it isn’t easy, I mean it took me ages to work out how to do it. Once I worked it out I couldn’t believe how easy it was. Say all that quickly.

I started the video and then stopped about 5 or 6 times. I finally got it done and when I listened to it the sound was crap. It wasn’t my afternoon. Thankfully the following day it worked so much better.

The idea of the tutorial was to turn the following image.

Into this.

I haven’t done much else with the images. There didn’t seem a lot of point.

Now if you would like to see how I did it then please check out the video.

I hope you found that useful. I will be doing more videos like this I hope.

Here is a gallery of some other images I did using the same technique. They were also in the video.

  1. Thanks Leanne, what a great idea! I rarely get a chance to do long exposures and this gives me an opportunity to play with some of my images!
