Last week I used one preset from ON1 Photo Raw 2025 to use on my infrared flowers. I wanted to see if it was possible and what you would get. I did use one of my own presets, and this week I’ve done the same.
I did use the same preset on each photo, but not the same one as last week. I think you can tell that these don’t look as great. I think when you use colours, then the preset will work differently with each one.
I had trouble with the shadows and had to do extra work to get the preset and image to work.
Here is a gallery with those images that were all done with the same preset.
Many of them are rather glum and not sure I picked the right one. As I started doing this post I wondered what would happen if I tried another one of my presets.
I decided to use one that has some sunflare, and I think they worked better with this preset. It didn’t seem to matter that the flowers were all different colours.
What do you think? Do you think the first or second ones work better? Do you like this kind of experimentation? Love to hear your thoughts.
I love the sunflare on the opening photo!!
Thank you Nora.
Your feature image is stunning!
Thank you Joanne.
The two on the top left look better without the sunflare but the rest certainly improved. Please keep experimenting, you produce some beautiful images.
Thank you Mike, I will definitely keep experimenting, I love doing it.
I always enjoy seeing your experiments. With the second photo the yellow and the purple provides a nice color contrast. With the third picture the depth and detail on the inside of the flower is covered by the sun flare. I’m indifferent on the others.
That’s good to hear Randy, I do like to play around to see what I can do.Thank you for sharing which ones you like.
You are right. The first set does not inspire. I think a one fits all is not ideal in photography. Each picture is unique and deserve individual treatment. The ones with sunflare I don’t like. To overpowering and killing the flower for no gain.
It is hard to do the one fit all, it is always interesting to experiment and see. Thanks for your thoughts.
I like the sunflare. More cheerful
Thank you IJ.
Love the light on this.
Thank you David.
Better with the sun flare. The pictures aren’t as flat and tell more of a story.
Thank you Anne.
