Yesterday was fun baking the lemon meringue cupcakes, and I did promise I would take some photos of them when the light was better.
Thankfully the light was amazing today. Lots of bright sunshine after an incredibly cold morning. I know for many of you 0 degrees celsius is not too cold, but here in Melbourne, it is freezing.
The only good thing about it being that cold is that it usually means it will be a beautiful day. It was or is. Lots of great sunshine for our solar panels.
Photographing lemon meringue cupcakes
To photograph them I used a portable card table that I have and can set up anywhere. I also have some things that I have purchased to use for backdrops and to put on the table. Some things I have made as well. In the future, I want to make some of my own as well. It will take time but I will get there.
My loungeroom has great light and it is the room I choose to use when I want to photograph my food all the time. It means I can control it a lot more and use whichever direction I think will work. It is nearly all natural light. It is a great learning experience.
As you can see the lighting is very different on both, but they were both taken in the same place. Let me know which one you like best.
Finally
This is something I’m really enjoying, baking and taking, I guess you could call it. I bake the cakes or food so I can take the photos. The best thing is that I don’t have to leave the house to do it. Wonderful.
If you missed yesterday’s post here is the link.
Take care everyone.
They look delish!!
Thank you Nora, they were and they didn’t last long.
I bet they taste divine!
They do, they didn’t last long. Thank you Julie.
The second image would be my favorite, it really presents all the deliciousness.
It is my favourite too, thank you for letting me know Cornelia.
Mmm, they look amazing.
Thank you Carol, they were very yummy.
I like the second one. They look so … delicious 😋
Might you consider sharing the recipe?
That is good to hear Reinhold. They were really good.
The recipe, or the links to each individual part were in the previous post about baking day.
I prefer the single cupcake. I like the detail and how the different textures of the paper, the cake, and the icing are so clear. I love the light reflecting off of the curd, it makes me feel I can reach out and take a bite.
I think I like that one too, I was trying something and I like the effect, I will be trying it again. Lucky for me I could reach out and take a bite, lol
Thank you
Oh, those sound good!
They were good. Thank you
they do look delicious, exactly what you hope for with a photo, I expect –
Thank you Beth, that is really good to hear.
The light on the trio looks better, in my opinion, although both are great. And water came to my mouth. 🙂
Thank you Fabio, I guess that is part of learning, is trying different things. They did taste great. I had a friend over today who was dying to try one.
Lucky friend! They must go so well with tea or coffee… delicious!!!
They certainly do Fabio and I think she thought she was lucky too.
