Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show for 2024

The Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show starts next week on Wednesday the 20th of March.

I’m not going.

I went for many years and always enjoyed it, but the last time I went, 2 years ago, I felt a lot of anxiety about being around that many people. There were times when there were so many people that I just had to get out of the stand I was in.

Perhaps that is a side effect of Covid, but I also think it is because I just don’t want to get sick if I can avoid it. There are more things out there and I like that in the past 4 years I’ve only been sick once.

Another reason for wanting to give it a miss is that I have developed my garden quite a lot and enjoy going out there to take photos. That is enough for me.

So this year I am going to give it a miss. I might go in the future,  but for now, I’ve had enough.

I thought it might be fun to look back on the show and what I’ve taken in the past. First up is a video I did of the show back in 2022.

Here is a gallery of photos that I have taken over many years. I hope you enjoy seeing them.

  1. Crowds are a problem. I find it best to go the minute the botanical garden or museum when it opens. I don’t worry about Covid. I am vacinated and when I caught it again it was very mild.

    1. They are a problem. I try to do that when I can and with this show I’ve been able to do that in the past, but I just don’t think I want to go. I only worry about Covid in that I’ve never had and would like it to stay what way if I can. I’m also fully vaccinated. Thank you Sherry.

  2. Know what you mean about crowded places. I still wear a mask on long train journeys. I remember enjoying your photographs from the Flower Show in the past but now you have you garden it must be so much more relaxing to take photographs there.

    1. I always try and carry a mask with me too, and trains are the worst. Thank you RJ, it was good to go and see it, but I love my garden and love just going out there when I feel like it and not having to worry about others. Thank you.

    1. It is amazing. I have seen it empty, but the only way I could get in there was on a tour. I might see if I can find the photos and do a post on it.

  3. Beautiful photos as always, Leanne! Would wearing a good brand of mask make you feel more at ease in a crowd?

    1. It probably would John, but not sure I really want to go. I have to admit that being around a lot of people is very uncomfortable these days. Thanks John.

    2. Well I do have a husband here too, but he works down the other end of the house, so it seems like I’m alone a lot. lol. Marriage is hard work.

    3. Yes it is, I messed up but they did too. It doesn’t matter now. I know you’re married, that’s great! 😃

    4. Aww thanks, Leanne! I haven’t dated since those days. Life is good today, if it works don’t fix it.

  4. The video is great Leanne. And stills are beautiful. The show is a tremendous presentation and unique. Thanks for sharing.
