MM 3 -12: High

This has been a great theme for MM 3-12 and I have really enjoyed watching all the images come in. There has been such a variety for the theme High and so many interpretations. Thank you to everyone who has sent in images for it.

The next theme is the first Monochrome Madness of August and it will be Movement.

I had a few ideas for this, but in the end I couldn’t think of anything more appropriate than one of the images I took from the Empire State Building while I was in New York last year. I put a yellow tone over it as it made it look warmer and night lights tend to have a yellow tinge to them. I also exaggerated the curve of the earth, makes it feel like I was really high.

Monochrome Madness each week and if you wish to participate and submit an image here is how you do it:-

  • You must email me the image you want to include and if you have a blog or website, or somewhere else, please include the link. My email address is
  • The image size should be low res, so the largest side should be 1000 pixels or less.
  • Please insert either your name or your blogs name in the file name.
  • Remember I am on Australian time, so with GMT I am +11 hours at the moment, I publish my post on Thursday morning.
  • If you need more help with sending images, and get confused about time zones, etc, well, there is a great website called The World Clock, if you go to that and look at Melbourne time, if it’s before 6pm on Tuesday evening, then you can still send me images.  If it’s after that time, you can send me an image, but it will be set aside for the following week.
  • Remember to include a link to your blog or website.
  • Please remember to resize your images, it is fairly simply, you just need to go into any editing software and usually under Image you will find, resize, scale, or image size, something like that and you can resize your image there. Change the dimensions to pixels and make the longest side 1000 pixels or smaller, hit return, and for most types of software that should change the other side automatically as well. Just remember to save it with a different name so you know it is the smaller version.  If you have any problems, please contact me, I don’t mind helping out.

Please note you don’t have to be a WordPress blogger to be in this challenge, you can have a link to a Facebook page, a Flickr page, anywhere really, or no link.  We just want to encourage people to do monochrome images, just for the madness of it. Just to let you know also, that as soon as the challenge is published, all emails and images you have sent me are deleted from my computer.

  1. “HIGH” is a great theme, there are many exciting photos in your collection this time! I’m looking forward to take a closer look at them 🙂

  2. great collection. what a funny coincitence, to find the Eiffeltower twice and views from a plane in a few other images. I guess, you alreday picked the most impressive image for this posts head image (SV). the other four of my top 5 are: 1, 4, 12 and 19

    1. I thought there was only one view from a plane, but guess some others were, funny how it happens. I picked the one I liked, though often the one that I think is different as well.

    2. No, I think you might be right, I don’t think I thought about it enough. I agree it is the end result that is important.

  3. spectacular shots by you and Chris (SV). But I also love Pam’s 15. and that doesn’t mean I don’t love the rest of the gallery. Each one has it’s own mood and style!

  4. Wonderful! This is such a unique gallery full of inspiring perspectives. Well done everyone! I like the added warmth and curve to your image Leanne it adds to the story for sure. Great pick of a theme. Looking forward to hearing what we are going to start working on for next month. Bravo!!

  5. Thank you so much Leanne for choosing my image as a feature, It was taken from the top of our mast… high indeed! There are some really spectacular images this month, I could not go past #4, #10, #15 and of course #22. As you said in your intro, the variety in interpretations is really interesting.

  6. You are correct Leanne so many great entries and interpretations. I just love your shot! Nothing better that a crystal clear evening at the top of the Empire State Building – in New York city – looking over the city that never sleeps! The New Yorker in me speaks! LOL As for the other images – my favorites this week are 4, 7, 8, 15, 24, and 31. My big question for 31 Stupidity Hole – is where on earth where you standing to get this shot?

    1. I am glad you agree Debby. Thank you so much, I thought I did okay for hand holding the camera. It was amazing up there.

  7. These are so excellent again that I’ll stop giving my top 5, and top 10 would be superfluous. Thank you, everybody, it’s such a joy to go through them every week!
