Monochrome Madness #15 – At the beach

As you can see it is another theme and our host this week is Brian from Bushboys World. His choice for our theme was AT THE BEACH.

It is a great theme, though I had it in my head that it was going to be By the Sea, or By the Beach, so when I realised it was At the Beach I had to have a rethink about what images I had.

I don’t tend to photograph beaches, or so I thought. However, as I was going through my archives I realised that I had lots of photos taken at them.

These photos are all from beaches around Victoria, my state, and were taken as far back as 2012 and much later.

None of my images are just beaches, and they all have rocks, but hey there is sand there too. What is the definition of a beach? So sand or stones, and all mine have sand, so I’m good.

I hope you enjoy my At the Beach images. Can you tell which ones were sunsets or sunrises?

This is the first time all the photos, except for one, have ever been shown in monochrome.

I want to thank Brian for being our host this week. I would love you all to go and check out his post as well. Remember if you want to participate as well please include a link to his post.

Participating in Monochrome Madness

If you would like to participate in this challenge please post photos on your blog and use the tag Monochrome-Madness, then I can use the reader to see what you post.

You can also leave a pingback, do they still call them that? Basically, you put a link to my monochrome madness post in your post and it leaves a link in the comment section.

Don’t forget to check out the Monochrome Madness page. On this page, the next theme is announced and there is also all the information for participating. We have also included a list of themes that will be coming in the future so if you want to be able to plan ahead you can. They aren’t in order, but will happen. Please go and check it out. Click on the Monochrome Madness heading in the menu.

Also if you would like to host one week or more, let me know.

  1. I find beaches with rocks or other features much more interesting than just sand, so I think these are all great Leanne 🙂 I especially like the ones that show the movement of the waves too.

  2. These are great photos and no I can’t really tell sunrise from sunset but could have a guess knowing a bit about Victoria. The last two photos didn’t show for me.
I had fun but mucked up my post schedule so re-did it so it posted this morning.
Thanks Leanne for letting me host.

    1. Thank you Brian, I think it is hard to tell too. Sorry the last two didn’t show. That seems to happen from time to time then it fixes itself.
No mucking up anything, it worked out fine. You’re welcome and thank you for our host, hope to see you doing it again.

  3. Great photos, Leanne! I call the processing either Grayscale or Black and White, what is the difference between black and white and Monochrome?

    1. Thank you John. I suspose technically there are black and white images, but we called the challenge monochrome because it was less words, plus monochrome means you can add a tone to it as well. So sepia or what not. I love adding tones to my black and white images.

    1. You are welcome😊. Yes, they look great! almost surreal, as if they were lit under some sort of dome or large studio…the monochrome has a great effect. Very moody and would make good wall art. Well done👏. Jay
