Monochrome Madness – Infrared images from Alowyn Gardens

I have been looking at the images I took at Alowyn Gardens recently with my infrared camera and thought I would share some for this free week for Monochrome Madness.

It is the perfect place in some ways for infrared because of all the plants. Infrared does some interesting things to plants. I like how it makes the world that you photograph look like winter with snow or frost. We see frost here, but never snow. We thought when we moved here we might, however, we were wrong. It never snows. This is where the infrared is nice.

Alowyn Gardens is a place I go to often to do macro photography. However, it is a display garden, so there is always something interesting to take photos of. Paths that lead to something, or a statue sitting somewhere pretty. Lots of things to look at.

Here are some of the things you can find there, though they won’t look like this.

Next week is Monochrome Madness #45, and our host is Brian from Bushboy’s World, and he has chosen the theme of CERAMICS. I might have to get out my stuff to do some still life photos.

Participating in Monochrome Madness

If you would like to participate in this challenge, please post photos on your blog and use the tag Monochrome-Madness, then we can all use the reader to see what you post.

You can also leave a pingback, do they still call them that? Basically, you put a link to the host’s monochrome madness post in your post, and it leaves a link in the comment section.

Don’t forget to check out the Monochrome Madness page. On this page, the next theme is announced and there is also all the information for participating. Please go and check it out. Click on the Monochrome Madness heading in the menu.

  1. Infrared images always amaze me at the detail and contrast. It just doesn’t register in the brain the same as actual black and white. Beautiful set of images!

    1. They amaze me too Scott. It isn’t the same and it does some amazing things to plants. If you do architecture, it looks like black and white. Thank you Scott.

    1. I am getting set for my Ceramics MM #45. Pity I have already done the photos. Maybe I’ll see what happens if I infra-red one 😁
