Monochrome Madness – Processing with new toys

black and white cityscape

For the free week this time, I’m just showing one image. It was taken almost 12 months ago, and I don’t really know why I picked it, but you see, we got a new computer and I wanted to see how well ON1 Photo Raw 2026 would work on it.

I’ve struggled with a couple of things in the past, but I really enjoyed doing this on the new one. The new computer has 128GB of RAM, so it is very fast and I love it. I was very keen to see how ON1 would work on it, and let me tell you, it was amazing.

I don’t know if it was just the new computer or if the new version is just that much better. Okay, I just tried it on my laptop and it really is that much better.

This is the image I did on the new computer. It is a different sky, and I made it monochrome because it just seemed easier for this image.

One thing I am hoping to do is some videos using ON1 and showing you what I love about it. I couldn’t really do them before because recording and using the software used to slow my computer down so much. So I really hope this new computer will make it all so much easier to do.

Our next theme is next week, and we have a guest host. We have decided to try and get more people to be guests from time to time. Stupidity Hole is our first one, and he will be hosting Monochrome Madness #4,9, and his theme is THE SPACE BETWEEN.

Participating in Monochrome Madness

If you would like to participate in this challenge, please post photos on your blog and use the tag Monochrome-Madness, then we can all use the reader to see what you post.

You can also leave a pingback, do they still call them that? Basically, you put a link to the host’s monochrome madness post in your post, and it leaves a link in the comment section.

  1. Very dramatic in monochrome! And I’ll look forward to seeing those videos if you manage to make them as I’d be interested in some of your processes. No MM post from me this week as I’m juggling several others I’m keen to do!

    1. Thank you Sarah, I need to relearn some software for doing the videos, but I really hope to get some done next year. I just have to plan what to do. That’s okay, enjoy your time Sarah.

  2. I just love how the white lines just pop out, it’s excellent Leanne. It looks like you have a lot of things sorted computer wise and it’s full steam ahead.

  3. 128 GB of RAM … OMG, those edits must be flying out of the computer at hyperspeed ! Mine (Linux Kubuntu) has 16 GB and needs a coffee break halfway through. 😂 .Mac or Win ?

    1. They are pretty nice, it is nice to have some speed. I would love to have Linux, but it is too hard with software only being on Windows or Mac. I know what you mean about the coffee break, I’ve had that happen too. Thank you Marc. Oh it is windows, though the new one has two SSD’s so one for Windows and the other will be for Linux.

    1. Yep, it has been nice. The photo budget can be huge. Dave and I are sharing the new computer as we still have our laptops for now. Thanks Ted, Next yeat maybe.
