One image 4 ways – Week 1 a photo from the city

I talked about doing this once before and I decided it was time. Whether you want to do it as well is up to you.

Many years ago when the blogging world was a little different there was a woman called Robyn who started a challenge called One Image 4 Ways. I used to do it and always loved how it really challenged you.

It is easy to think of one or two ways to change an image, but 4 can be hard. I can remember when I was studying photography one of our tasks was to do an image 3 ways, but this just adds that extra one.

I have picked today because there are 4 Thursdays in August and we can do one each week.

The image I decided to use this month is the following one. This is the original.

It was first taken in 2017 very early in the morning, hence the pink hue. The image was put through Adobe Camera Raw and only very basic corrections were made to it. So this will be the starting point each week.

This is my entry for the first week.

After opening the image in Photoshop I corrected the buildings so they were straight. I played around with the lighting, but overall I didn’t do much to it. I thought it would be good for the first week just to a some basic editing.

At the end of this post I am going to put the two images into a gallery. Each week for the next few weeks I will add to that gallery so you can see the changes I make each week.

If you would like to do this with me, then please link your posts to mine and use the tag 1image4ways so I can find them as well.

Each week you must use that basic image or the original, but what you do to it is completely up to you. As long as you can tell it was from the original image.

So who wants to join me?

  1. A great idea for a challenge! I’d be interested to join, but I’d rather post all four versions at once rather than string it out over a month. Would that be allowed?

    1. I don’t know, we always did one each week, maybe if you do the four on the fourth week. See how you go. Thanks Sarah.
