Photographing the local adventure playground in infrared

Last weekend when I went out for my walk I took my new infrared camera with me. It was fun to walk around everywhere stopping here and there to take photos. I do live next to an incredible park and it goes on and on forever. Okay not that far, but you can walk a long way on the paths through it.

As I was walking around I saw the adventure playground and thought I might go into it and take some photos. This was not here when my children were small sadly. It is a large area that is fenced in for children to play. I think there is even a coffee shop there. Very fancy.

There is something sort of surreal about empty playgrounds, like they seem lonely or something. Do you know what I mean? Then I think taking the photos in infrared added to that even more.

What do you think?

  1. Love the infrared and I agree about the childless playground. It seems to make the scene extra stark and lonely (like it wants to search for a child and invite that child or children in for a ride).

    1. If I’m honest, I don’t totally know either Marilyn, I just know it makes green plants white and has an affect other things too. I think they world great too, thank you Marilyn.

  2. I do know what you mean about empty playgrounds. They are lonely, even a little spooky without children playing in them. I really like that first photo with the feathery-looking plants. Are they taking over the playground?! 😆 Good ones, Leanne.

    1. Aren’t they, I feel like when you look all you can hear are the sounds of children playing. The feathery plants would have been put them, so wouldn’t take over. Children would be there later in the day. Thank you Lois.

  3. Beautiful shots, Leanne – the playground does look a little spooky being so empty and still, which adds to the slightly unnerving look of the infrared 🙂
