Lens-Artists Challenge #311 – What’s in a Garden

I love this challenge Ann-Christine, thank you so much for picking it.

You can see what she said about it here, LEYA. What’s in a garden can mean so many things and places.

She has left it up to us to do what we want with it. So I first thought about my own garden, but it is still a work in progress, so I thought I would show another garden that I love visiting.

Alowyn Gardens, Yarra Glen

I have been going to Alowyn Gardens for many years, though I haven’t been for a while now. It is an amazing display garden and there is always something to photograph no matter what time of the year you go.

There are walks through different parts that show different sorts of gardens. There are paths everywhere and most of them led you back to the central fountain.

I love going there and taking photos and using a variety of lenses. As you can see in the following gardens I have even used my infrared camera there.

This first gallery is full of photos from the gardens and gives you an idea of what is there.

The other thing I love doing there is getting my macro lens out and photographing the flowers. I wish I had the same variety in my garden, but I don’t have the space.

There are so many flowers there.

Some of my all time favourite flower photos were taken here at Alowyn Gardens. I hope you enjoy them too.

Thank you Ann-Christine so much for being our host this week. Don’t forget to go and check out here post and link back to her if you want to participate.

Maybe you would like to participate this week, it is a great challenge to do. To find out how to join the Lens-Artists Challenge, click here for more info.

  1. Great post, Leanne! The way you’ve captured the essence of different gardens is truly inspiring. I like how each image tells a unique story and showcases the beauty of nature. The variety of colors, textures, and compositions really draws you in. This collection beautifully highlights how much peace and inspiration can be found in a garden.

  2. Absolutely beautiful, Leanne – but I did of couse not expect anything less from you. I am really glad you liked the theme too, as it is close to my heart. I loved your infrared photos – they look like the season coming here soon. Winter. Beautiful. My favourites though, are your macros, they stand out of the screen and come close to my body and soul. You are indeed a fabulous photographic sorcerer!

    1. Thank you Ann-Christine, it was a great challenge. I think that is what I love about infrared, you get to see a winter world that we really don’t see here much at all. Glad you enjoyed the macros, they are my favourites too. You are very kind.

  3. You’ve included some of my favorite flowers in your gallery, Leanne. Those are such beautiful gardens. A lovely place to visit on a summer’s day, for sure.

    1. That’s great John. It is an amazing place to visit, not so much in summer though, it is too hot and the flowers are never as well. Spring and autumn are the best times. Thank you John.

    1. The wisteria is fantastic if you can catch it, I don’t see it very often. It is a great place to visit and I love that they like you to take photos as well. Thank you Sarah.
