Monochrome Madness – A dahlia

Monochrome Madness - A dahlia

We have put ourselves in self-isolation so for monochrome madness I have done a dahlia in black and white. It was a quick process.

With coronavirus among us, we have made the decision to self-isolate. My husband is lucky that he can work from home so that is what he is doing. Unfortunately, that means he has taken over my desk and monitor. I do have a Surface Pro, but I can’t do a lot on it.

We are going to have to find ways to amuse ourselves here. I will have to keep experimenting with food photography and still life. Though, now that I’m not a professional photographer anymore I’m wondering if I should get my easel out and start drawing and painting again. Paint my photos, so to speak. Who knows.

On the weekend I did go to Country Dahlias. It wasn’t a long visit, but I did get some photos. Perhaps one of my last outings for a while. It rained a bit while there so many flowers have raindrops on them.  I thought for monochrome madness it might be nice to convert one.

Stay safe and virus free everyone.

It would be great if you would like to participate, especially if you enjoy the monochrome images. If you want to contribute there is a Facebook groupTPM Photos which you can join and share your images. Of course, if you are blogging no reason why you can’t post your own. I like this challenge and it is nice to be thinking in monochrome again.

  1. Well done for self isolating Leanne, just been sympathising with sis. in law outside Melbourne, that like the UK, Aus. has blown its island status barrier, by not being vigorous enough early on with quarantine/exclusions.
Keep well, and avoid doctors if you can…
    Best wishes
    Julian

    1. I know what you mean Julian, politicians are unbelievable, they don’t react quickly enough. They are not doing a good job here. Thankfully we can self isolate, but I feel sorry for all of those that have to send their kids to school. Seems our children are expendable. Sad, but true.
YOu keep well too, don’t take any chances. Thanks again.

    2. Well done Leanne – it’s crazy but after speaking to 2 of my brothers in the last week (one in Aus, one in UK), both high flyers, it’s amazing how they still don’t get how potentially serious the illness is, and how easy it is to pick it up – again I’m afraid ‘cos our too liberal pussy footing governments don’t get it, and haven’t got this message out clearly – this isn’t some airy fairy political issue which can be discussed ad nauseum, it’s got to be stamped on hard and fast, the escalating graphs show how even a day is seriously lost time.
Sorry you know all this, but loads of people still don’t seem to get it…

    3. That seems to be a global problem. My husband just read that a third of Australians think we are over reacting. It is mainly young people, who think it is crazy. Now we are seeing the largest jump in numbers are from that age group. I think our governments are, but after years and years of lies coming from the no one is believing them. I don’t know about where you are, but Australians have never trusted politicians, now more than ever, especially with the current the mob. I’ve been watching and reading the news so I get what is going on. Some people are just going to spoil it and I think their names should be taken and if they get sent to a special place of hell for being so irresponsible. They will make it so much worse.
I get it, it is nice to have people to complain to at these times.

    4. Thanks Leanne… I reckon that proportion of folk who think we’re overreacting is similar over here, though as we get more fatalities in youngsters and scenes of hospitals near collapse, maybe people will get it. the strange thing is, that the writing’s been on the wall clearly for many weeks, months even. I even named a “new” snowdrop Welsh “Whelm”, as in overwhelm and looked up where the word came in a post I did on 30/01 about the developing pandemic . I dont know about over there, but along with “uprecedented”, “overwhelm” now seems to be one of the most commonly used words. So how come the guys in charge missed it? The irony here is that Boris Johnson (PM) has craved power for years, and now he’d got it, he’s been dumped a real hospital pass – literally, but it could be worse, we could be living elsewhere with DT in charge…
Anyway we’re in this mess for the long haul, so stay positive and healthy 🙂
      Best wishes to you both
      Julian

    5. Yes, the fatalies is what will do it, but unfortunately by the time that happens it is too late. Look at what is happening in the USA. So far we haven’t been affected too much, meaning, not many deaths. For me and my little part of the world we are keeping it outside and just living. We stay home most of the time and just see how we go. I’m enjoying the excuse to not leave the house. lol. OUr PM has been slow to react as well, I just don’t understand why we didn’t lock our borders from the start, from when China first told the world. We could have prevented a lot of stuff. So true, DT is an idiot, I can’t believe the things he says.
Yes, positive is the way to go, have to be really. Best wishes to you too Julian.

    1. Yeah, that’s what I’ve been thinking. I might just get out the sketch pad first and see where that takes me. I might suck at it now, it has been a while since I did any. Thank you and you take care too.
