This week for our non theme week I thought I might take a wonder back in time to 2014. I believe Monochrome Madness first started in that year so it has been going on and off for 10 years now.
I went back to have a look and it seems the first Monochrome Madness was done in February 2014. It hasn’t been consistent over that time and what we did in the beginning is different to how it is done now, but it is nice to see it still going.
For me it has always been about doing something I don’t normally do, black and white or monochrome images. Sometimes I have push myself to do it because I usually prefer everything in colour. How about you?
I’ve been trying to get fitter for my trip, so I’m kind of tired, so I am taking the easy way out today and showing old photos. Like I said these are some of my images from my first year with it. I hope if you were following me back then you enjoy seeing them again, if not I hope you enjoy seeing them for the first time.
Next week is our theme week and we have a new host. Her name is Claire and she is from the blog MRS. CLAIRE GUTKNECHT. She has chosen the theme of Emotions.
Participating in Monochrome Madness
If you would like to participate in this challenge please post photos on your blog and use the tag Monochrome-Madness, then I can use the reader to see what you post.
You can also leave a pingback, do they still call them that? Basically, you put a link to my monochrome madness post in your post and it leaves a link in the comment section.
Don’t forget to check out the Monochrome Madness page. On this page, the next theme is announced and there is also all the information for participating. We have also included a list of themes that will be coming in the future so if you want to be able to plan ahead you can. They aren’t in order, but will happen. Please go and check it out. Click on the Monochrome Madness heading in the menu.
Also if you would like to host one week or more, let me know.
I play around with black and white and often after all that I end up with putting the colour back. But it does have it charm.
I’ve been known to do that as well Elke, I’m not a believer that everything is better in monochrome, but there are some things that are. Thank you.
Love your moody captures. Here are some of my monochromes. https://wanderingteresa.com/the-sydney-opera-house/
Thank you Teresa.
I remember participating in this challenge back then, you took on a lot of work to coordinate it. Love your fungi shot, but you did monochrome well back then too. Here is mine https://sillarit.com/2024/04/24/monochrome-madness-flowers/
I remember that too Ritva, I was looking through some older posts on my old blog and saw you there. It was a lot of work, but I like this format so much more. Thank you.
Beautiful gallery, as always, Leanne. I love the mood on the rainforest one.
Thank you Sofia, I wasn’t sure a rainforest would work with monochrome, but maybe it can.
That tree, the fungi, and macros are my favorites. These are all so beautiful!
That’s good to hear Egidio, thank you so much.
I love black and white, when it is appropriate. These are awesome, especially the lily and the mushroom.
I tend to agree Dawn, I think it works well with some subjects but not others. Thank you.
