While most of the world celebrates Christmas in winter, in Australia it is summer. It is also the time for summer holidays, and most people take time off during this time. One of the things many Australians do is head to the beach, so that is what I am presenting to you for this challenge of HOLIDAY FUN set for us this week by Ann-Christine from Leya.
This is the first one. I love trying to get the movement of water when I’m at the beach.

Summer is a time for sunsets and summer storms. We get a lot, and the most damage our house has ever gotten has been in the summer.
Here is something you might see in summer.

This is another sunset down at the beach.

I’m not a fan of swimming at the beach and really don’t do it. I hate salt water, but I do love to get down to them to take photos. The best sunsets are in summer.
Thank you to Ann-Christine for being our host. Sorry, no Christmas photos. I don’t really do them anymore. It is often too hot to get out, and you have to stay up too late to see the lights. Ahh, Christmas in summer is so much fun.

Hurray! the down-under version of the season! A salutary reminder for up-over.
It is like that here definitely Penny. Thank you.
Water in motion – wonderful scenes, great photos, Leanne!
Thank you Elke.
It’s interesting how that looks so similar to a glacier!
That is the long exposure, thank you Marland.
beautiful picture 👍
Thank you Neeraj.
Dawn is the best time to be at the beach, Great photos Leanne
That’s for sure, no people. Thank you Brian.
I really like that artistic flow of the water in your second image, but they are all beautiful. Of course, that’s from someone who loves the ocean, but spent three weeks in Hawaii this year and never got my feet wet.
Thank you John. You sound like me, I rarely go in it.
And this is what I had hoped for, Leanne – some totally different holiday fun! Beautiful beaches, beautiful water, beautiful sunsets. I must admit I also think about Australia in these terms – thank you!
That’s good to hear Ann-Christine. I just went with holidays. Thank you so much.
Beautiful images Leanne, I especially love the way you captured the movement of the water 🩵 xxx
Thank you so much Xenia.
I’ve often wondered what Christmas must be like in radically different time and weather zones Leanne – and now have a better idea of it! I must admit after 3 days of cold rain YOUR Christmas images look MUCH more inviting to me!
Christmas can be strange here, especially when I was growing up. The best ones were when we went to a lake or something and had fun. HOt lunches were terrible, especially because we never had air conditioning. It is what we are used to. We did have a Christmas in Denmark and it was so different and cold. Glad to hear they cheered you up Tina, thank you.
Leanne–these are all so pretty! The color of the water if your first photo is gorgeous but the rush of the water in the second photo….!!!
Thank you Lois, that colour turned out so good.
I love that second image of the movement of the water! Beautifully captured
Thank you so much Sue.
You’re welcome,
Leanne
😊😊
Always impressed when someone gets a good wave photograph. I can’t think of any I have shot that I like very much. Nice shot.
Thank you Ted, I’ve been experimenting with it for a few years now.
Great water shots. Summer’s looking good right now. We have plenty of snow…
Thank you Rebecca, well your snow is looking good to me, lol.
Thanks, Leanne. It’s pretty to look at and great exercise to shovel!
I like the idea of exercising. Not something we have to do here, no snow.
Leanne, I can imagine the fun summer holidays spent at these beaches. Beautiful.
Yep, a lot of people love going to them. Thank you Beth.
Beautiful beach images Leanne. I’m like you. I don’t like salt water or sand, but I do like to photograph the coastline.
Thank you Anne, good to hear I’m not alone in that Anne. It almost seems unAustralian to hate swimming in it. lol
lovely motion blurrrrr….

👌😊😜
Beautiful, dramatic photos.
Thank you Lynette.
I love water, so these are FABULOUS. I grew up across the street from Lake Michigan. It’s a huge body of water, people are always surprised, it looks like the ocean and acts like it to, similar to your FANTASTIC photos. Love this first one. I used to dive into those waves, dangerous, because the wave would swirl us kids around in sandy water, we’d be holding our breath trying to get to the surface. Even though we were afraid, we did it over an over. My mother would have been furious if she had known. She never learned to swim… we did not know that as kids and we wondered why she would yell at us to come back to shore, not swim too far away. HAVE A GREAT HOLIDAY!
I love photographing water, but not really being in it. I had a cousin that used to dunk me under the water all the time and a couple of times I thought I was going to drown, so not to keen on it. We couldn’t swim as kids and it amazes me now how we used to go and swim in a dam with no adults. Stupid really when I look back on it. There is so much stuff here about doing things safely. I can’t imagine how scared your mother would have been, different times I guess. Sounds like it was a great time for you as kids though. YOu have a great holiday too, and thank you.
