If you’re really interested, this is probably the “go to” book for our region / probably good for most of the rest of Victoria too (copy link into browser: http://www.publish.csiro.au/book/7376). It’s on the expensive side but excellent. This is more of a text book rather than a coffee table book though, so it’s not necessarily light reading.
It is a Ranunculus, I know what they look like, it is a daisy of some sort, but not exactly. I should know what they are, but I have to see if I can work it out.

I hate when that happens. I’ve taken hundreds of photos of flowers, and I can’t ever figure what they are. I mean, unless they’re a rose or an iris.
