Earlier this week a parcel arrived and in it was a new lens that Lensbaby have loaned to me, the Velvet 85. It is part of the Velvet series. I’ve been using the Velvet 56 for over a year now, so when they asked me if I would like to try it and review it, I jumped at the chance. I love the Velvet 56 and have loved using it for macro photography, so I was curious to see what the 85 would be like.
I have really only used it in my garden so far. Thankfully, it is spring here so there is quite a few things flowering out there. I did try it out in the city today, but those will have to wait for another day. I will say that I thought it performed really well.
Here are two images from this week. It is a great lens for flowers, so I will be looking forward to using it more. I hope you enjoy them. More will follow.
Gorgeous, very dramatic. I think you have to be pretty good to use these.
Thank you Nicci, I don’t think that, it just takes a bit of practice because of the manual focus.
Oh! Thanks! Lensbaby is on my someday list then. ☺️
I hope you get to have one Nicci.
I love the photo of the white daisy?. Leanne
thank you Colline, they are flowering a lot in my garden right now, which is really nice.
The images really do look rich and lovely. I particularly like the purple flower with its deep color against that muted green background
Thank you Judy, the lens really helps with that.
I have heard of Lensbaby for so long and have never thought to buy one, maybe I really ought to consider that….or better yet Christmas is coming!! 🙂 But, truly I did like these images.
Yes, would make a great Christmas present. That’s great, I love what these lenses do to your images.
Very velvety!
Thank you.
that header photo is gorgeous,Leanne. Taking a close-up is no match for an actual macro lens.
Thank you Lois. I have to agree, it is no match.
